Attribute: Section in Report Builder

Katrin Kaufmann (132) | asked Feb 24 '20, 4:37 a.m.

Hello, I want to create a report in Jazz Report Builder (Requirement). The Add Condition window shows a list of attributes. This List of attributes is very short compared to the list of attributes in Requirements Management (DOORS Next Gen). Especially I am looking for the attribute “section”. This attribute “section” is available and define in DOORS. I cannot find this attribute “section” in Report Builder. Many thanks Katrin

Hi Katrin,

The property 'section' is not really an attribute of an artifact. It is only defined in the context of an artifact's appearance in a particular module. An artifact can appear in more than one module.

The property is not available in JRS reports.

It would be technically possible (and very useful) for product management to enhance JRS so that module specific properties were also queriable through JRS but currently this feature does not exist.

You could submit an enhancement request.

Speak of the devil...

Richard Watson (below) is the product manager I think.

The 2 alternative data sources within JRS are LQE or DCC.

LQE is only available to Enterprise customers or in the demo install

As Richard says, Section is not available in either data source currently.

Here is a support article on how to submit RFEs

Part of the answer lies in which data source you have set the Report Builder to get it's results from.  You can select JRS or DCC.  It also depends in what you mean by "section".  Do you mean heading within a module?  The module hierarchy is a known gap in our reporting solution and this is a candidate for a future release.

Hello Richard, thanks for your answer. Yes, the Attribute "section" means heading within a module. Our goal is to create a metric for one module (with one artifact). This module has many requirements IDs and is divided in different chapter (1-5) Each chapter (section) contains a different function.
We need one metric, which shows the number of requirments per chapter (section).
x-Axis: chapter (section)
y-axis: e.g. number of requirements with Status new / changed, closed…..

We thought about to splitt the modul in different moduls per funktions. But there are to much number of requiremtents and it will be to many spend effort.

It were very helpful, If we can choose this attribute in report builder.

Many thanks
Katrin

Hi Katrin,

A workaround that you can use to enable your report is to export a view with the section number column displayed to CSV. Then use CSV import to import the section number into a text attribute.

This allows you to do JRS reports on Section number. it also allows you to filter on section number (which is also currently not possible in DOORS Next).

Of course you need to manually refresh the attribute via CSV export/import if you move or add content to the module.
