JazzPrjAdmin updating process template for all project

Joe Mulcahy (11) | asked Oct 04 '23, 6:26 a.m.

As a JazzPrjAdmin can you update EWM process templates for all projects when you have top level access to all project areas? or do you also need to have specific access to all team areas within the project area to be able to update work items within the team areas?

Joe, it is important to know the concepts.

I would suggest carefully reading https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Deployment/SetupProjects

Process templates are used to seed the process of a project area. After that, the template has no meaning for the project area. You can change the process in a project area. You would have to change each project area. With your role, you should have the repository role (JazzProjectAdmin) that allows you to make process changes in a project area where you are member of the administrators group. You also need a role in the project area with the required permissions. Just being an administrator does not grant you any permissions, but as an admin you should be able to give create roles and define the roles permissions and give yourself the role.

Noter, Process sharing provides a more automated way of upgrading. If this is used on your servers, please read https://jazz.net/library/article/1005 . The summary is that a project area shares a process and other use that. If the process is updated, all using project areas get that update. It is also possible to further develop a process that is shared in a different project area and then allow the using project areas to switch to the project area with the newer process.
